With the help of statusmatch.com, Spirit Airlines has introduced a paid status match scheme. Participants can immediately begin enjoying elite privileges from 32 loyalty programs (16 airlines and 16 hotels) once matched. There is a matching cost of either $49 or $99. However, once matched, your status will be active for a full year without the need to take any additional challenges.
The Deal
The new Spirit Airlines status match program is compatible with 32 different loyalty schemes.
Matching elite status lasts for a year from the day it is granted.
Depending on your current level in the loyalty program you are matching to Spirit, you may be eligible for a Silver or Gold status match with Spirit Airlines.

Advantages of the Elite Spirit Tier
The Free Spirit Silver level is clearly the lower tier, with the Free Spirit Gold level representing a substantial improvement. If you frequently fly with a certain airline, the benefits of achieving Gold status—such as priority booking, an exit row seat assignment at booking, a pet fee waiver, and more—can be quite enticing. Listed below are all of the perks that come with each membership tier:
My Thoughts
Complete honesty…I haven’t flown Spirit in a very long time. Many people I know, though, think it’s the best of the budget airlines and so highly recommend it. A few years ago, I had the opportunity to fly in the Big Front Seat, the airline’s premium service. They came away from it feeling fulfilled:
The pleasantness of the encounter pleasantly surprised me. The trip was less expensive than a Delta economy ticket for the same itinerary, yet I paid for a Big Front Seat. Also, American Express reimbursed me for flight incidental charges, so I got my money back for the Big Front Seat. A large and comfortable front seat was provided. The flight attendants were also really pleasant and helpful. A number of features that are standard on other regional first-class items are absent from the Big Front Seat. The seats on the Spirit do not have video screens and do not recline. Additionally, there are no free snacks or drinks available unless you have Spirit Gold status. Nonetheless, the journey itself from A to B was superb.
Even if you don’t intend to maintain the status, anyone who plans to fly Spirit more than twice in the following calendar year should give serious thought to this pairing.
